This Wednesday’s artist is Youssou N’Dour. He is without a doubt, the most famous Senegalese artist. He is a singer, songwriter, composer, actor, businessman, and politician. Yes, one of the very few artists in the political scene is N’Dour.

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine described Youssou N'dour as, "perhaps the most famous singer alive" in Senegal and much of Africa.
N’Dour has born on October 1st, 1959, in Dakar, Senegal. He has had an important rule in popularising the pop music of Senegal known as Senegambians, in the world. Though he is mostly known for his musical career, he is also an important figure in the world of cinema.

He is the subject of the award-winning films Return to Gorée (2007) directed by Pierre-Yves Borgeaud and Youssou N'Dour: I Bring What I Love (2008) directed by Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, which were released around the world. Also In 2006, N'Dour was cast as Olaudah Equiano in the film Amazing Grace.
