Lepo Sumera’s 75th Birthday Concert on May 8

A special concert celebrating the 75th anniversary of composer Lepo Sumera was held on May 8 at the Estonia Concert Hall in Tallinn. Curated by Kadri-Ann and Tammo Sumera, the program featured a range of ensembles performing both well-known and lesser-played works, highlighting Sumera’s significant contributions to Estonian music.

Estonian Music Days Conclude with Centennial Celebration

The Estonian Music Days festival wrapped up on May 4, marking the 100th anniversary of the Estonian Composers’ Union. Themed “Sada/100”, the festival featured over 50 concerts across Tallinn and Tartu, showcasing new works by composers such as Helena Tulve, Timo Steiner, and Märt-Matis Lill. A highlight was the announcement of the LHV New Music Award 2025 winner at the Estonia Concert Hall on April 25. 


“After All This” Exhibition at EKKM Continues

The Contemporary Art Museum of Estonia (EKKM) continues to host the exhibition “After All This”, which delves into themes of post-collapse emotions and ecological grief. Featuring works by artists like Mark Raidpere and Jaanus Samma, the exhibition runs through June 16.


🇪🇺 Europe Day 2025 in Estonia: Unity Through Culture and Celebration


Nationwide Events (May 2–9)

Starting from May 2, cities and towns across Estonia will host Europe Day festivities, including concerts, educational exhibitions, orienteering games, and family-friendly activities. These events aim to foster a sense of unity and shared European identity among Estonians. 


Main Event: Free Concert at Freedom Square, Tallinn (May 9)

The highlight of the celebrations will be a free open-air concert at Freedom Square in Tallinn on May 9, featuring performances by popular Estonian artists such as Tommy Cash, nublu, Gameboy Tetris, and Bedwetters. The concert will run from 19:30 to 21:00 and will also be broadcast live on ETV and ETV+ channels. 


Europe Day Seminar and Orienteering Game

Earlier in the day, from 12:00 to 13:30, a Europe Day seminar will be held, including the announcement of this year's European of the Year. Attendees can also participate in an exciting orienteering game around Tallinn, exploring various EU-themed checkpoints.
