Imagine sitting in a quiet café on an autumn evening, a cup of something warm in your hands, soft light spilling across the window, and rain tracing slow patterns on the glass. The soundtrack to that moment could easily be Autumnal, the new EP by Dry (the project of Stamford-based artist Cole Park).
Created spontaneously in his dorm room after a brief break from music, Autumnal captures the feeling of rediscovery, of creativity returning unplanned yet naturally, like the changing of seasons.
The opening track and title piece, “Autumnal,” feels like a scene lifted from a modern noir film. Built on synth textures and jazz-inflected harmonies, it balances digital precision with emotional warmth. Its smooth pulse and glowing tones make it both intimate and cinematic.
“Senescence” follows with a livelier rhythm, a chill-beat groove anchored by a contemplative piano line and understated drum programming. It’s vibrant but never loses the reflective mood that threads through the EP.
The closing track, “Changes,” leans further into jazz, blending soft drums, expressive piano phrases, and gentle brass. It’s the most sentimental piece of the three, wistful yet soothing, like the golden hour before dusk.
Across just three tracks, Dry once again shows his knack for merging jazz, electronic, and lo-fi aesthetics into something deeply human. Autumnal feels personal yet universal, a short journey through sound that reminds listeners how beauty can emerge quietly, even from the smallest creative spark.
